Lavon D. Dye, 87, a retired security guard with Sunshine Mills in Tupelo, MS, died July 17, 2018 at University Medical Center, Jackson, MS. Visitation is Friday, July 20, 2018, 1-2pm at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 2pm Friday at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Dye was a US Air Force Veteran. Where he guarded the Atomic Bomb. He loved gardening and farming. He also raised miniature horses, llamas, cows and ducks. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Clarksdale, MS
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years Dorothy Jenelle McGill Dye of Randolph, MS. Son Christopher Parker of Algoma, MS. 4 daughters
Debra Ann Kimberlin of Water Valley, MS, Pamela Simpson (David) of Lambert, MS, Vicki Karen Baker (Greg) of Saltillo, MS, and Sherri Jones of Dyer, TN. Brother C,J. Dye of Clarksdale, MS. 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents James Ray and Gertha Keenum Dye. Daughter Kathi Randles. Grandson Johnathon Jones. Brothers Royce, Leslie and Tommy Dye and sister Jeanie Brooks.
