Obituary of Blanche Long
Blanche Tabor Long passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Born March 15, 1931 in Clarksdale, she was the daughter of Hazel and Jesse A. Tabor. She attended elementary, middle and high school in Clarksdale and later attended MSCW in Columbus. She married Billy Joe Long in 1955 and together, they raised their children in Clarksdale. She was a devoted mother to her children and lived her life for them. Although she lived her final years in Dallas in order to be close to family, Clarksdale was always her home and she loved the town and its people. She had a very strong devotion to First Methodist Church and she loved to cook for her family. Her specialty was a killer spaghetti sauce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy Joe Long and older brother, Jesse Tabor, Jr. She is survived by her two children, Luellyn Switzer of Starkville, MS, and Malcolm Long of Dallas, TX, her sister Ellen Ginsberg of Dallas, TX and her 3 grandchildren, Mary, Monty and John Switzer of Starkville, MS.
Graveside services will be held at Oakridge Cemetery on Wednesday, February 8 at 1 p.m.
Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is in charge of arrangements.
