Obituary of Mary Belle Topper

Mary Belle Topper, 84, passed away peacefully Monday, September 28, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be from 1pm until 2pm on Wednesday September 30th at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS with graveside services to follow at Memorial Gardens. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Mary was born on December 15, 1935 to the late Oliver Wilson Cranford and Roxie Lutts Cranford in Rena Lara, MS. She graduated from Sunflower Consolidated High School. After graduation she worked various jobs including Woolworth's department store in Clarksdale. On March 14th, 1964 she married her husband of 56 years, Charlie Topper. They had one son, Ricky Topper. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and foster parent. She was an active member of Rena Lara Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for many years. Mary was a devoted Mamaw to her three granddaughters; Libby, Karlie, and Katie. They brought her so much joy during her life. She loved spending time with her family and also visiting with her sister, Lillie Mae Gammill. Mary was preceded in death by her father Oliver Cranford, mother Roxie Cranford, sister Patsy Ann Nabors, and brother JD Cranford. Survivors include her husband Charlie Topper of Rena Lara; son Ricky Topper (Lisa) of New Albany; granddaughters, Libby Cosby (Robby) of Batesville, Karlie Topper of Cleveland, and Katie Topper of Oxford; sister Lillie Mae Gammill of Cleveland, along with five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
