She was born in Belzoni, MS, July 23, 1927, "the year of the great flood," as she always added, to Thomas Calvin Brown and Mary RiRita Ferguson Brown.

She moved to Tunica, MS, to live with her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Caperton, to attend elementary school and continued on to graduate from Tunica High School. She attended Mississippi State College for Women until she met and married V. Homer Arrington, Jr. of Coffeeville, MS, who was a student at Mississippi State. Barron (Tim) of Pickwick Dam, TN; and James (Jim) A. Arrington (Karen) of Senatobia, MS. She also leaves behind her 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

After the death of her husband Homer, Janet returned to Tunica to live for the next 41 years. There she found happiness again when she met and married Hayes T. Farish, long time County Agent for Tunica County, MS. Together they enjoyed traveling and many happy family events and celebrations. Janet was known as an excellent cook. Whether it was tailgating at MSU football games, birthdays or the holidays she always served a beautiful meal to family and friends.

She is also survived by her step-daughters Diana Nickels (Jerry) of Senatobia, MS and Kay Broome (Randy) of Columbus, MS and 5 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren and a brother, Lee Butler Brown (Nita) of Vicksburg, MS.
