Obituary of Michael Lewin Himelstein
Michael Lewin Himelstein, 50, a computer engineer, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Visitation is Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:00-11:00 AM at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Memorial services are Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Meredith-Nowell Chapel with burial in the Beth Israel Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include his parents Arnold and Gloria Bright Himelstein of Clarksdale, MS; sister Lori Himelstein Sternberg of Westfield, NJ; grandmother Goldie Himelstein of Clarksdale, MS; 2 nieces Abbie and Anna Sternberg and 1 nephew Asher Sternberg all of Westerfield, NJ.
Michael had completed a five hundred mile hike on the El Camino trail in Spain and suffered a heart attack two days later.
Some of Michael's accomplishments were becoming an Eagle Scout, earning a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University and the University of Central Florida and a MBA degree from the University of Georgia.
Michael as a young man participated in triathlon races. He enjoyed hiking in the Georgia Mountains and often gathered groups to hike with him. He enjoyed traveling and had visited four continents.
Once Michael made an acquaintance he never forgot them. He kept in touch with his friends through out his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry and Lottie Bright and Ben Himelstein.
