James "Snookie" Spaggiari, 97, a retired cotton farmer, died October 23, 2018 at his home. Visitation and rosary is Thursday, October 25, 2018, 10-11:15 am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral mass is 11:15 am Thursday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Spaggiari was a US Army WWII veteran where he served in Normandy, Rhineland and Central Europe where he was wounded twice and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. He was a devoted husband and father. His faith and family came first. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years Lena Mae Murphree Spaggiari of Clarksdale, MS; 2 sons Louis Spaggiari (Lucy) of Clarksdale, MS and George Edward Spaggiari of Renton, WA; 3 daughters Theresa Louise Radicioni (Glenn) of Clarksdale, MS, Nancy Carrol Meyers (Charles) of Alligator, MS and Rose Ellen Barnes (B.B.) of Greenville, MS; 6 grandchildren William Meyers, Victoria Meyers, Mary Claire Barnes, Scarlet Cook (Chris), Beck Barnes (Sarah) and Lauren Henson (Jimmy) and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents George and Theresa Negri Spaggiari; brothers Lee, Edward, and Anson Spaggiari and sisters Pia Mullener and Eleanor Bankston.
