Obituary of Sarah Wright
Our sweet, feisty, Moma AKA Granny Ducks left this earth for her heavenly home on September 24, 2017. She was born in Bogalusa, LA to Bessie and Milton Bates. Upon Milton's death, she was taken in and raised by Vedah Williams and her husband Henry Trevino as their own.
She grew up in Memphis, TN where she studied piano, and attended many a dance at the Peabody and other Big Band venues with her folks. She graduated Southside High School and joined the war effort. She met and married her life long love George Wm. Wright and had nine children. Upon their divorce she returned to college obtaining a Bachelor and Master's degree in Psychology while raising her eight children. She fiercely loved and protected her children all of her 91 years. In 1986 she legally fought for and reacquired her parents place on Moon Lake. After extensive renovations, she and her son George Jr. opened a seafood restaurant and B & B named "Uncle Henry's." Visitors to this historic establishment enjoyed hearing "Miss Sarah's" stories. She had a lifelong passion for history and geneology that she shared with enthusiasm and vivid detail. She was a proud member of the DAR, UDC and Pace Society of America. She loved gardening and was a founder of The Tennessee Williams Festival in Clarksdale. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by both sets of parents, her sons Mark Henry 1st (18 months) and George Wm. Wright III (62 years) and daughter Kathleen Louise (21 years) and her granddaughter Courtney Deisler.
