Obituary of Eva Thomas
Eva Louise Thomas, 92, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on April 24, 2017. Eva was born in Sumner, MS on October 27, 1924 and resided in Sumner for most of her life. Eva was a homemaker and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Sumner.
Survivors include a son Douglas Flynn Thomas (Sheryl) of Chandler, AZ., daughters Ellen Carol Burnett (Bob) of Easton, PA., Sandra Diane Priday (Rich) of Prineville, OR., Deborah Ann Thomas of Memphis, TN., and Juauna Louise Thomas (Billy) of Sumner, MS., seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Lester Richard Thomas, her parents Wiley Zacharia and Nancy Ellen Henley Jenkins; a great grandson Matthew Robert Vandever; brothers Weldon Jenkins, Felix Jenkins, Eber Jenkins, Neville Jenkins, Kinch Jenkins, Joe Jenkins and Lloyd Wiley Jenkins; sisters Hazel Jenkins and Betty Zane Berry.
Visitation will be Friday, May 26, 2017, 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, Sumner, MS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, Sumner, MS. with burial in the Jenkins Cemetery in Sumner, MS. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale, MS will be handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to the Sumner Baptist Church or to the Jenkins Cemetery. Contributions, in the memory of Eva Louise Thomas, may also be made to the Sumner First Baptist Church, 400 Cassidy St., Sumner, MS 38957.
