Billy Laney Bryant, 76, of Tunica, MS, passed away Friday February 9, 2018 at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN, following a brief illness.
He leaves a wife of 27 years Geraldine (Mayo) Bryant, his daughters, Stephanie Bryant, Lynda (Todd) Walley, Michelle Matthews, sons Eric (Bud) (Ashley) Bryant, Ron (Connie) Belk, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one sister Linda Garner, one brother Rex (Cathy) Bryant and many close friends. Billy is preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Gussie (Sudduth) Bryant, sister Doris Armstrong, brother John (Mac) Bryant.
Born in Greenwood, MS on January 27, 1942, he was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Horn Lake High School in 1959. While attending high school he played football and basketball.
He served in the Army of the United States at Fort Sills, Oklahoma. On April 30, 1968 he was honorably discharged.
In 1962 Billy began a long life career in the truck driving industry, traveling around the fifty states. Later years he settled down in Tunica, MS and worked as the Supervisor for the Water Department for 16 years until his retirement in February 29, 2012.
Billy loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He also had a passion for his fur babies, they were like his children to him.
He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, working in the yard and listening to music, most of all getting the family together and cooking crawfish with his grandsons.
Visitation will be held Monday February 12, 2018 from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church Tunica, MS. Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Tunica, MS. Memorial Funeral Home in Tunica, MS is in charge of arrangements.
