Virginia Cooper Smith, 61, a retired dental hygienist for Dr. Ted Roberts, died Oct. 6, 2017 at Merit Health, Clarksdale, MS. Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 8,2017, 1-2pm at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 2pm Sunday at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements. Her children were the most important thing to her. She enjoyed arts and crafts. She loved art, music and sewing. She poured her heart into her work and dearly loved her patients. She was voted for several years Favorite Dental Hygienist for the People's Choice Awards in the Clarksdale Press Register. She graduated from Lee Academy, attended Delta State University and graduated from Northeast Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons Adam and Jordan Smith both of Clarksdale, MS; daughter Jennifer Smith Walton (Brandon) of Lyon, MS; mother Shirley Jenkins Gaston of Enid, MS; sister Meg Gaston Clark of Clarksdale, MS; brothers Bob Gaston of Memphis, TN and Walter Gaston of Liberty, MS; grandchildren Fowler Walton, Bennett Walton and Jacob Smith. She was preceded in death by her father Forrest Graham Cooper, Jr. and her step-father Edgar Earl Gaston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The ALS Association, P.O.
