John Young Fiser, age 60, passed away July 17, 2017 surrounded by family at his home in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He was born in Clarksdale on March 27, 1957. John earned a bachelor's of business administration in insurance and real estate from the University of Mississippi, where he met his beloved wife of 37 years Libba Miller. After graduation, he began his career as an appraiser with the Mississippi State Highway Department.
In 1982, John joined Hal Fiser Agency where he worked as a residential and commercial real estate broker and appraiser until his passing. During that time he served as an active member of the Appraisal Institute, holding multiple offices at the state and national level. John had a love for learning new technology and enjoyed staying abreast of new techniques in real estate appraising through short courses and conferences.
He was an avid bicycle enthusiast who took pleasure in riding Saturday mornings through the streets of Clarksdale with friends as much as through the mountains of Arkansas, Colorado, and Wyoming with his younger son Bill. He was a lover of life and people. From bungee jumping off a bridge in Killiecrankie, Scotland with his brother Harvey, to exploring the ruins of Uxmal in Mexico with his wife Libba, John embraced living with a big smile on his face. He had a passion for photography, which he shared with his older son Rip, and the images John captured provide evidence of the positive lens through which he saw the world. Everyone he met he called friend, and he gave generously and joyously of his time and resources to friends and family alike.
John Fiser is preceded in death by his father Hal Fiser and his brother Ross Fiser. He is survived by his dear wife and best friend Libba; his son Rip Fiser and wife Briana of High Point, NC; his son Bill Fiser and wife Amanda of Houston, TX; his mother Harvey Fiser; his brother Greg Fiser and wife Robin; his brother David Fiser and wife Stacey; his brother Harvey Fiser; and Ross' wife Michelle Fiser Gist and her husband John Todd Gist. He will be deeply missed by his eleven nieces and nephews, his dedicated and supportive coworkers at Hal Fiser Agency, and his faithful church community.
