Malcolm Donald "Donny" Kornegay

Malcolm Donald "Donny" Kornegay, Jr., 52, passed away Tuesday, May 9, at home surrounded by his family.

A graduate of Lee Academy and Delta State University, Donny was an avid outdoorsman and accomplished athlete. From dove and deer hunting, to outdoor grilling, to celebrating all-things Ole Miss, his favorite moments were spent in the midst of his family and friends. A man of honesty and character, Donny will be forever remembered as a loving family man and a true friend.

He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Dylan Kornegay; his parents, Don and Lucy Kornegay of Clarksdale and his grandparents, R.O. and Vassie Kornegay of Clarksdale and Gus and Lena Radicioni of Shelby, MS.

Donny is survived by his wife, Lisa Brewer Kornegay of Sumner, MS; sons Gavin Kornegay of Memphis, TN, and Spencer Kornegay of Jackson, MS; stepson Parker Hurst of Memphis, TN, and stepdaughter Lauren (Rob) Cook of Southaven, MS; a sister, Brandi Kornegay of Hammond, LA; a brother Brad Kornegay (Betty) of Collierville, TN; niece, Anna Lauren Kornegay and nephew, Mark Kornegay.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent care Donny received from the Baptist Memorial Cancer Center in Oxford, Sta-Home Hospice and to each of his very special nurses. For the all of the prayers and expressions of support from friends and members of our community during the past year, we will be forever grateful.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at St Elizabeth's Catholic Church, followed by the praying of the rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth's at 11:00am, Friday, May 12, with burial following in Oakridge Cemetery.
