Dorothy Jewell Wilson

Dorothy Wilson was born in Union City Tn on September 20, 1925 to Hugh and Hazel Lumsden. As a high school senior they moved to Memphis, Tn where she graduated high school at East High in 1943. Following graduation, she took a job as a ticket agent with Illinois Central Railroad where she was assigned to Robinsonville, Ms. Later she was transferred to be ticket agent in Lambert, Ms where she met her future husband, Frank Wilson Jr. After Frank returned from service in WWII, he took a job with Union Oil Company near Friars Point, Ms where they lived until 1968, raising 3 sons there.

In 1968 Frank was transferred by Union Oil to work in Memphis where they settled in Southaven. Shortly after, Dorothy took a job as a teller with the Bank of Walls where she worked for 30 years until her retirement at age 70. Following her retirement she moved to Clarksdale Ms, living her last 10 years in Flowers Manor. She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Hazel Lumsden, her husband Frank Wilson Jr and son Kenneth Wayne Wilson. She is survived by sons Jimmy (Pam) Wilson of Clarksdale ,Ms And Paul (Lisa) Wilson of Pensacola, Florida, grandsons Jim Wilson Jr of Columbus Ms, Greg Wilson (Tiffanie) of El Paso, Tx and Ethan Wilson of Pensacola, Florida and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday March 7, 2017 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS with the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. at Meredith-Nowell Chapel. Burial will follow in Lambert Cemetery in Lambert, MS. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
