Virgil Rudolph Massey


Virgil Rudolph Massey, Sr., 88, died Tuesday April 11, 2017. Having been born on February 14, 1929, in Attala County, Mississippi, he spent his adult life in Coahoma County. He was a retired farmer with farming interests in Bolivar and Coahoma Counties. Mr. Massey owned and operated True Auto Electric for 29 years in Clarksdale. He graduated from Clarksdale High School and Mississippi State University. He served a tour of duty in Germany with the U S Army during The Korean War. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Midas Massey, Mattie Crosby Massey, Lucille F. Massey, one brother Thomas R. Massey.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie Jackson Massey; a son, Virgil Rudolph Massey Jr. (Loraine) of Russellville, AR.; two daughters, Zann M. Jordan of Hot Springs, AR. and Julia M. True of Lyon, MS,; a brother, Ellington F. Massey (Beverly) of Lyon, MS,; a sister, Linda M. Harris of Atlanta, GA.; seven grandchildren; Weatherly Jordan Wolfe (Brandon); Anna True Moore (Chris); Ford True (Cadey); Benjamin True (Kaitlyn); Rudolph Massey III; Barton Massey; Jackson Massey; Three Great-Grandchildren; Max Moore; Addison Wolfe; and Robert Winford True IV.

The family will receive friends at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00am with service starting at 11:00am on Thursday April 13, 2017. Graveside service and burial will follow at the ancestral Macedonia Cemetery at Zama, MS. in the afternoon. Pall Bearers will be the seven Grandsons.
