Franklin Delano Abraham

Franklin Delano Abraham, 83, died on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at North Delta Hospice in Southaven, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 1st at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Clarksdale. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home is in charge.
Born in Clarksdale to A. J. and Kafa Jabour Abraham, Frank was a member of Clarksdale High School's Class of 1953. He graduated The University of Mississippi where he received a double degree in Biology and Chemistry. Having served in the U.S. Army, he was a member of the American Legion Post 28 in Clarksdale. Frank attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
After the death of his parents, Frank became the sole owner of the family owned grocery store, Fair Deal Grocery. A life-long member of the Coahoma County Conservation League, Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, his garden, cooking and good food. Along with his hobbies, his wife Mary Jo and his family were a very important part of his life.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Lee Abraham and Nellie Mae Fegert and husband, George and four brothers, Robert Lee Abraham, William C. Abraham and his wife Jean, Royal Abraham and Johnny Abraham.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Jo Petro Abraham of Clarksdale, one brother, Fred Larry Abraham and his wife Kay of Sierra Vista, AZ and one sister, Glenda Faye Pettit and her husband, Dr. William A. Pettit of Hendersonville, TN and a host of nieces and nephews from whom he was proud to be called a great-great uncle.
